I can tell you from personal experience that blogging while on a short-term missions trip can add a whole new dimension to the trip.

We started implementing something like this this summer. Our youth group blogged from all their summer trips, our Children's Pastor blogged our VBS, and the Mission Team blogged their trip in Mexico (which was great, because our Senior Pastor was detained at customs!)
It was an incredibly positive experience, and we got loads of positive feedback. We are having a hard time getting it in front of the church as a whole though. I think that blog-driven church websites are going to be important in the near future... but I don't know how to capitalize on this with non-bloggers in the meanwhile.

Ok, this is becoming its own post. Sorry.
